BIOGRAPHY
Richard Martin has been lecturing aboard ships for most of his professional life, including the ships of: Cunard, P & O, Noble Caledonia, Voyages to Antiquity, Saga, Fred Olsen, Regent, Oceania, Seabourn, Silversea and Crystal Cruises.

He was born in Pinner, Middlesex and educated at Latymer Upper School in West London, before going up to St. Johnís College, Oxford to read Modern History. He has a Master of Arts degree from Oxford University, as well as a Diploma in Biblical and Theological Studies from Oxford and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from London University. Richard taught English and History for ten years at Harrow School and, after being ordained as an Anglican priest in 1985, he was Chaplain and Head of Theology at Magdalen College School, Oxford, as well as assisting in the historic parish of S. Thomas the Martyr.

Richard lectures on Destinations and historical subjects and also specializes in Art and Architecture in European, Baltic, Mediterranean and North and South Atlantic ports and destinations. He is a frequent visitor to Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Scandinavia and Greece, as well as the Caribbean, Brazil, South Atlantic and West and South Africa. He has been English Chaplain at All Saints', San Remo, on the Italian Riviera, and has led many tours to Italy, France, Spain and Portugal specializing in Art and Architecture, as well as pilgrimages to Santiago de Compostella and Assisi. He is a long-standing member of the British-Italian Society and the Oxford Italian Association.

Richard's humorous review of his career as a speaker on ship's ranging from Canberra, QE2 and Queen Mary 2 to today's ultra-luxury ships has recently been published under the title, "Those Were the Waves."
