Dr. Sherry Hutt, JD, PhD, is an internationally recognized cultural heritage preservation and repatriation expert. She served as a college professor in law, museum, and public policy graduate programs throughout the United States, a judge, museum trustee, head of the US cultural property repatriation program, advisor to two US presidents, US liaison to the World Bank Cultural Committee and US-ICOMOS (World Heritage Sites), was a Smithsonian fellow, and has been consulted by cultural ministers from South America to Asia, including testimony to the US Senate. Career highlights include training the first FBI Art Crime Team, prosecuting high-profile art theft cases, and negotiating return of cultural patrimony held in museums around the world.
She is lead author of the first law text on Heritage Resources Law and the US lawyer association handbook on Cultural Property Law, in addition to numerous law, anthropology, and museum publications. As author of the 15-volume Cruise through History series of traveler storybooks, she draws from over 400 stories for illustrated presentations on ships and in video. Stories derive from thirty years of world travel, in-depth research, and a talent for storytelling. Audiences laugh, cry, and cheer for inspiring historic personalities prior to visiting their ports.

Dr. Sherry's cruise destination presentation topics are drawn from stories in the Cruise through History (CTH) 15-book storybook collections, published from 2014-2021. There are 300 presentations, covering around the world ports of call, and the number grows with continued travel and extensive research. The stories present destination ports through a central character, which may be an inspirational personality, an event that shaped the place, or a building or district that has been witness to history. All presentations feature points of interest to be experienced by cruise travelers in port. The stories are entertaining, highly substantive, well researched, often from primary sources (historic diaries) aided by extensive travel and illustrated by numerous photos and original art. Material for presentations has been gathered in over 30 years of working with archaeologists and historians in heritage sites around the world and by academic study and professional experience in the fields of art, museum management, architecture, environmental and political economics.
Past destination presentations include: ports of North America, Central, and South America, including Cuba, Pacific and Caribbean islands, including Tahiti and Easter Island; North Sea ports including Belgium to Fjords and the White Sea; Iceland, Scandinavia, the Baltic Sea and British Isles; Mediterranean ports of Europe, Adriatic, Greece, Turkey, Russia, Black Sea, and the Holy Land countries. Presentations covering Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China and ports of Asia, Arabia and Africa, are also illustrated by photos from personal travel. In addition to ports, there are presentations for ocean crossings featuring great navigators, sea battles, the Bermuda Triangle and the Search for Atlantis, in addition to special presentations on the Bolshoi and art museum collections. Included is the 10-Part series on Return of Cultural Property - You be the Judge!
Dr. Hutt has been presenting port enrichment presentations on cruise ships since 2011, and with frequency since 2014. She has more than 300 cruise ship enrichment topics, many from published stories in the 15 volume Cruise through History storybooks. Her topics cover ports of the world, cultural history, art & historic architecture, ancient to contemporary literature, characters in history, and World Heritage Sites. She has given presentations on Azamara, Celebrity, Oceania, Regent, Silver Sea, Viking and Windstar.
