BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Jack Clarke is the senior national security and military professor at the Marshall Center in Germany. He is a recognized expert on current world events, including the war in Ukraine. Dr. Clarke is recognized as a leading expert on the role of military forces in Homeland/Civil Security. He has developed and taught over 130 courses on national security strategy, cyber security, counter terrorism, homeland security, crisis and consequence management, risk management and stability operations. He most recently served as the Senior Eisenhower Research Fellow of the NATO Defence College in Rome, focusing on cyber security.

In a military career spanning more than a quarter century, Colonel Clarke held numerous positions of great responsibility in the national security organizations of the United States. Colonel Clarke served as a senior planner and crisis manager in the Joint Staff in the U.S. Department of Defense, as well as the executive assistant to the Commanding General, Fifth Army. Colonel Clarke commanded elite military units (parachute, Special Forces, Ranger, armored infantry) in combat and training operations in Europe, Asia, Africa and the USA, including combat service in Operation Desert Storm and IFOR/Bosnia.

He has conducted dozens of historical battlefield tours. These tours have focused on the World Wars I and II battlefields of Italy and France, including Normandy, Battle of the Bulge, Alsace, Sicily, Salerno, Anzio and Monte Cassino. He has also conducted tours of Napoleonic battlefields such as Waterloo, Austerlitz, Wagram, Jena and Auerstaedt.

Dr. Clarke holds a Doctorate in political science from the Universität Salzburg, Austria, a Brévet from the Ecole Supérieure de Guerre in Paris, an M.A. from the University of Southern California, a Diploma from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and a B.A. from Norwich University. He held a post-doctoral Olin Fellowship at Harvard University and was an Olmsted Scholar in Austria.

Dr. Clarke has led projects in 60 countries worldwide, speaks six languages, and has lived abroad for more than 35 years. He has published 3 books and over five dozen articles on defense and security issues. He is a frequent contributor on German and Austrian radio and television.
