BIOGRAPHY
Pauline lives and works in South Wales, gaining inspiration for her paintings from the expressive Welsh Countryside. After studying for her B.A. honours degree in Fine Art at Cardiff University she continued to study, gaining a Post Graduate Diploma in Education, focusing on Adult Education.

Alongside teaching regular classes and workshops at The National Museum of Wales and taking students out for 'en pleine air' workshops at a wide range of locations in South Wales, she has been running successful watercolour classes on board cruise ships for nine years. Her approach is to build up a foundation of solid watercolour techniques whilst introducing a variety of themes always related to each individual cruise. Thus creating a memento of the cruise for the passengers taking part in the watercolour workshops.

Below is a selection of some of her watercolours.

PRESENTATIONS / WORKSHOPS & CLASSES
1. Flowers of Madeira
Inspired by the Bird of Paradise flower, we will experiment with a’ Wet-in-wet’ technique of dropping in colours to blend together on the page, giving a vibrancy to our paintings. Step-by step demonstration will be given.

2. Harbour Scene
Today, whilst creating a harbour scene, we will work with building up ‘Washes’ of paint, to build up a depth of colour, whilst keeping the transparency of watercolour.

3. Palm Tree Beach Scene
Create a palm tree beach scene using washes of colour. Today the demonstration will show you how to create the smooth, blending of colours to describe the fluidity of the shore line. This will provide contrast with the textured palm trees.

4. Tropical Landscape
Experimenting with complementary colours to create a range of earthy browns and greys, we will build up a landscape dominated by majestic mountains.

5. Tropical Wildlife
Inspired by the wonderful plants and creatures inhabiting the islands, we will create some colourful and textured compositions.

6. Art Exhibitions
An opportunity to display a selection of your art work, inspired by this wonderful trip, for friends and family to view.

7. Watercolour Wrap-up
A time to finish off any of your paintings with the help and guidance from your tutor, Pauline Williams.
CRUISE HISTORY / EXPERIENCE
I have been working successfully as an Art Instructor on cruise ships for nearly 10 years, working with SAGA P&O and Fred Olsen. I always create an itinerary to suit each individual cruise, often working with local landscape and areas of interest, whilst developing watercolour techniques.
