BIOGRAPHY
Blaine Baggett loves telling the world about the universe. For nearly two decades he was the Director of Communications and Education for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the world’s premiere center for the robotic exploration of space. For his achievements as a public communicator, he was awarded the highest form of recognition NASA can bestow on a civilian: the space agency’s Distinguished Service Medal. Earlier in his career, Baggett was chosen by NASA as a finalist for its “First Journalist in Space” program, a competition placed on indefinite hold following the loss of the space shuttle Challenger.

Baggett is also an Emmy® award-winning documentarian. His productions have been viewed by millions of appreciative audiences across the globe. His most recent production, created as a JPL Fellow, is "JPL and the Space Age," a television series on the history of robotic space exploration that NASA has highlighted on its new streaming service, NASA+. His accomplishments have also been recognized globally, including the honor being inducted into the International Academy of Astronautics.

Baggett is no stranger to the podium and stage, whether at sea or on land. He is an enthusiastic speaker whose distinction is in the interweaving of dazzling graphics, personal stories and excerpts from his television productions to inform and inspire audiences. His national appearances in front of the camera and microphone include CNN, National Public Radio, PBS, Fox, and many major U.S. metropolitical media outlets.

PRESENTATIONS
Splendors of the Universe
Until recently the Hubble Space Telescope was rightfully called the world’s greatest scientific instrument of all time, but now it has been eclipsed by the James Webb Telescope. Learn about both of these marvelous machines and take in breathtaking sights of the universe.

Roving on Mars
For rocket scientists, few things are as hard – or more dramatic – than landing a spacecraft on Mars. But landing is just the beginning of these adventures. From the Viking landers to the most recent spacecraft to touch the surface of Mars, experience what makes these missions the nail-biters they truly are.

Majestic Saturn
When it comes to majestic sights, Saturn and its dazzling rings are the crown jewels of the solar system. You won’t want to miss this journey that relives the Voyager and Cassini missions to this spectacular planet - for Saturn’s rings won’t be around nearly as long as once thought.

Hunting Down Asteroid and Comets
Look out! Asteroids dead ahead! The dinosaurs did not have space agencies. Fortunately, we do. How are these cosmic interlopers being tracked down? As why is it that we should be grateful for them?

The Search for Life Beyond
The big question we all want to have answered: Are We Alone? The first step in finding the answer is the search for microbial life elsewhere in the solar system. This grand quest is already underway in some surprising places.

The Quest to Discover Another Earth
Journey to worlds that stagger the imagination. Astronomers have discovered nearly 5,000 planets circling other stars. Are there any Earth-like planets somewhere out there? And what will it take to find them?

Space Quest
What’s ahead in space exploration? What will be the great space quests? Are astronauts going back to the moon? To Mars? How could new technologies revolutionize our understanding of the universe? And how are commercial companies altering the entire landscape of space exploration, including space tourism?

Discoveries at Mars
Mars beckons us like no other planet. But why? Even after a quarter century of continuous 24/7 presence, the Red Planet continues to fascinate, surprise and delight. From science fiction to science fact, journey back time to see why the Red Planet has such a grip on the human imagination.

Rockets and the Human Imagination
There is a direct connection between science fiction and science fact. Explore how the space adventures imagined by writers and film directors paved the way for the rockets we send aloft today.

The Greatest Space Adventure: The Voyagers
Relive the epic journeys of the twin Voyagers. These iconic machines continue to this day to make science history, including the recent achievement of being the first to cross into interstellar space.

The Right Stuff
Who is your favorite astronaut (or cosmonaut)? What does it take to have the “Right Stuff?” Blaine Baggett, a finalist for the First Journalist in Space Program, shares stories of rubbing shoulders with NASA astronauts and his own adventures in training to go into space.
