Dan Jones holds a PhD (School of History, University of East Anglia), an MA (Institute of Historical Research, University of London), Certificates of Mastery in Greek History and Computer Science (Harvard edX), a Diploma in Archaeology (Institute of Archaeology), and a Diploma Teaching Adults (Hammersmith College). He was IT Manager in a London Education Department. Currently Dan is working on post-doctoral mediaeval material from Norwich .

He has been a Member of Kent Archaeological Society since 1965, has assisted in excavations, mainly on Roman and Mediaeval sites in UK and France since 1965, and was leader of a rescue archaeology group (SE London borders) 1970-1980s.

Dan has developed the use of computer-based techniques to assist research and has lectured on this and archaeology to students at University of East Anglia, local history groups, and groups such as the U3A.

Dan is particularly interested in practical archaeology, ecclesiastical architecture and near-eastern ancient and classical history, but totally unable to resist any kind of history. He is able to talk on specific sites, or the general history of an area, but also on historical and archaeological theory and practice. IT expertise means an ability to supply a variety of computer-based aids.
