Jack Wilson spent most of his working life in Social Housing in the South of England, working for local Councils and Housing Associations. For the last 10 years he has been running his own consultancy in Housing Management and Care.
Jack and his wife have always enjoyed travelling, and 15 years ago started cruising. They now aim to take a couple of cruises each year, and planning for, and looking forward to these, keeps them happily occupied during the winter months!
In 2008, Jack built on a long-standing interest in Local History, and qualified as a Green Badge Tourist Guide, and when his six grandchildren are otherwise occupied, spends much of his spare time conducting tours around Southampton and the Hampshire area, where he meets many British and international fellow cruisers. He also gives talks on Southampton, maritime matters such as the Titanic, the early Liners, Lord Nelson, and other subjects such as Jane Austen, to clubs and schools, and founded as has run for seven years a "Welcome to Southampton" desk for ships calling at Southampton for the day, staffed by volunteers.
In the last seven years, Jack has worked fifteen times as a Port or Destination Lecturer, and twice as an Enhancement Lecturer.
