BIOGRAPHY
Tom is a retired University-College Professor and taught numerous subjects in the Natural Resources programs at both the College of New Caledonia in Prince George, BC and Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, BC for 30+ years. He is a Registered Professional Forester (retired) and a Registered Forest Technologist (retired) and holds a Post Secondary Instructor's Diploma from the University of British Columbia. During his working career, a good deal of his instruction took place in field exercises and at times, he also managed and emceed numerous large conferences for Resource Professionals so he is equally comfortable teaching in the classroom and the field with audiences both large and small. .

Tom is a positive, well spoken and humorous lecturer and enjoys sharing his love of wildlife, nature and the outdoors with his audiences. He is Past Commodore of the Nanaimo Yacht Club and is an ardent sport fisherman and outdoorsman. In his spare time, if he's not on a cruse ship, he does woodwork in his hobby shop and loves to turn bowls and other useful woodenware from local, native wood species on his lathe.

Tom lives a short ferry and taxi ride from the Vancouver Cruise Ship Terminal so he can often be available on relatively short notice.

CRUISE HISTORY / EXPERIENCE
I have been a guest speaker ("Naturalist") aboard 15 cruises to date. I have lectured on various Royal Caribbean ships, the Disney Wonder as well as the Viking Orion and the Viking Sky. I have half a dozen presentations designed for the Alaska routes and another half dozen presentations designed for the Caribbean/Panama and Central America routes.

On the Alaska cruises, I have usually conducted commentary from the ship’s bridge when visiting the fjords and glaciers. I am quite familiar with Hubbard Glacier, Glacier Bay, Tracy Arm, Endicott Arm and other Alaskan glaciers and fjords as well as all of the ports of call on the Alaskan cruises. On the Caribbean/Panama cruises, in addition to my presentations, I have done "Wildlife Spotting" with interested guests and have really enjoyed meeting so many diverse and friendly people.
