PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH: |

Martyn has been an avid traveller for sixty years, visiting over 130 countries whilst serving with the Royal Air Force, British Airways, lecturing on cruise ships or on vacation. For twenty-two years he has given Enrichment Lectures, specialising in Destinations, History and Travel, for many of the world's top cruise companies. He has lectured on over 50 different ships, on some over a dozen times. For the past several years he has concentrated on cruises in Europe (Mediterranean, Baltic, N. Atlantic Coast & the British Isles). A Fellow of The Institute of Sales & Marketing Management since 1992. He is a former member of the International Press Association (IPA).
His large collection of richly illustrated lectures, covering all continents, have around 100 photographs and maps showing the local features. A 45-minute lecture would include a brief history of the country or city, along with details of the countries structure, culture (Museums & Galleries), traditions and cuisine. Often closing with amusing local peculiarities, anecdotes, or folk tales. Several 'None destination' lectures are available for those multiple sea-days. [Shore Excursions mentioned when required by Shore-ex team].
For a complete list of cruise ships sailed on, lecture titles, both for 'Destinations' and titles of other 'Travel talks' about places of interest visit Martyn’s website >>

Destination and Cruise Enhancement Lectures - [History & Culture, Art & Architecture, Cuisine & Customs]
Cruise Companies have differing approaches to the way lectures are presented, for example, one cruise company I lecture for on a regular basis, state I should include 'History, arts & sciences. Some cruise companies still prefer the 'Old style' Port Lectures, which might include the "How, what, why & where" of the destination, even including things such as the colour of the taxis and buses, and how far is the walk into town! I can adapt to most formats required.
I have Destination orientated lectures on over 300 destinations/ports/islands in the European/Mediterranean area. I have many others covering all continents including Antarctica.
For those long ocean crossings, I have a selection of travel related lecturers, here are just a few examples:-
‘Great Feats of Engineering – The Panama Canal’ [The history, building, transit, new locks 2016]
‘Great Feats of Engineering – The Suez Canal’ [The history, building, transit, new sections 2015]
‘The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World’
‘The City of London, the Square Mile’
‘The City of Westminster’
‘From the Rise to the Demise of the world’s only Supersonic Airliner, Concorde’
Egypt - The riches of the Nile Delta. [Alexandria, Port Said, Cairo, Giza, etc]
Egypt - The South, Luxor, Karnak, Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, etc]
I have given, from the bridge, talks as the ship sails through the Panama Canal, Suez Canal and Kiel Canal on many occasions.
Martyn has been lecturing worldwide on cruise ships for over 20 years, for the last few years he has specialised on European Ports [Mediterranean, Baltic, British Isles, Atlantic Coast & Islands] He has lectured for many major cruise lines, lecturing on over 50 ships, on some over a dozen times. Martyn has lectures covering ports of call on all continents and a selection of none port enhancement lectures for those long sea days.
