Attributes
Felicity embraces local scenes through colour and design of the composition and takes you on a journey of her travels. Felicity has had several work placements abroad and each one has enriched her own portfolio which she loves to share with others and show these skills through demonstrations of techniques that capture the scenes.

It is this hands-on and caring approach that has made her sought after for art workshops in the local community who thrive on her teaching methodology of demonstration and practices. Felicity has the belief that everyone is creative and able to produce artwork. Her teaching style brings this out in people who gain confidence and enjoyment from their own artwork with the aid of Felicity’s experience of teaching.

On a recent cruise to Norway and Iceland Felicity attended the excellent art classes on board and was happy to demonstrate a collaging technique she uses with napkins. Felicity is always enthusiastic and maintains there is no limit to art and teaching art has always been her passion to share with others. Felicity also organizes exhibitions solo, community and group shows.

Felicity is an ideal fit for being an Art Instructor on cruise liners. She loves to cruise and especially loves cruise days when she is able to sit and finish drawing the places she has just visited. Felicity is in her element when teaching people and thrives on being able to help them improve their skills and gives them confidence in their own abilities. One of Felicity’s favourite sayings is ‘there are no mistakes in Art’ only problem-solving. She can often be heard asking the class ‘IS EVERYBODY HAPPY?’ and an overwhelming response YES comes back at her.

Portfolio
Felicity draws on her years of teaching in mainstream schools and has a large range of both PAINTING AND CRAFT ideas that blend in depending on the people she is teaching. Her own work can be seen in galleries, magazines, public spaces, community centers and churches. Felicity is prolific in producing paintings to capture the moment of places she visits and is adventurous in trying new materials and disciplines in Art. She recently completed a training session in GELLI PRINTING which she teaches as workshops and incorporates into her murals.

Felicity has had several solo and group exhibitions including:
The Palace of Westminster, Art House Libya, Pump House Gallery London, Egyptian Embassy sponsored by UNESCO, Gaborone National Gallery and the Maltese Biennale.

WORKSHOPS & CLASSES
WORKSHOPS

I am always adding to my repertoire of workshops and trialling new ideas.

The medium most popular on cruise ships is WATERCOLOURS

This medium lets the participant get straight into painting and producing creative works of art with the help of my instructions. In the hour's lesson, I can show the starting point, the mid-underpainting stage and the final outcome. This is mostly achievable in one or two hours but people work at different paces, especially beginners and the focus is on the enjoyment of the painting.

Techniques that I will teach relative to WATERCOLOURS

Wet-on-wet where the paper is coated firstly in water and then paint dropped into it. This works very well for skies or seas.

Wet-on-dry the paper is dry and only the paint is wet. This will reinforce the outline and blocking in colours.

Tonal values and contrast are explored as well as colour mixing. With a limited range of pans in your painting set you can mix numerous colours and values.
The subject matter I like to relate to the journey and have images that are appealing from the places that we will visit in port.

Some days we might concentrate on flora and fauna from where we are visiting or it might change to local habitants and the wildlife in the area.

Great images can be had by just observing the birds or sea life that might surround the ship. Gulls swooping down or dolphins playing in the waves can all be captured with your brush.

Felicity also has a unique style of watercolours where random colours are blocked in on her sketchpad and let to dry, ready to capture the local scenes by drawing in black gel pen. This can bring out the details when you are literally on the move,

PRINTING with ACRYLICS

No press is needed as this can be done with stencils. For example, a craft class can incorporate using leaf or sea-life stencils into creating a layered effect with Felicity's guidance. A brayer (printing roller) is used to apply the acrylic paint that dries quickly so that the stencil can be placed over it. The artwork is built up by layering different types of leaves in various colours.

Another printing technique is using a GELLI PLATE which is a gelatin plate where the plate is covered in acrylic paint and then leaves, images or marking is applied.
