Vic Bettridge
Art Instructor & Ukulele Teacher

Vic is a keen and experienced artist and enjoys teaching art in a variety of media and subjects. Being mainly self-taught, he studied art in residential and evening workshops under such tutors as Richard Joicey. He has been teaching drawing and watercolour classes for the Warsash Art Group as well as on cruise ships. Vic is also an enthusiastic ukulele player and is a member of a five piece band that plays for local charities and festivals. He is keen to promote ukulele classes on cruises because the instrument is easy to learn, where only two or three simple chords can lead to dozens of songs.

Jean Finney
Historian & Ukulele Teacher

Jean's earlier career involved being a singer and writer of songs and monologues, with folk and country influences. She loves to sketch and paint, leads a very active and full life, and has a passion for history. She recently achieved an Open University degree in art and music. Over the last few years Jean has enjoyed being guest speaker for all kinds of groups, on topics widening to meet the demand for return bookings. Wherever possible, art, music and humour have been included.

Ivy studied Bassoon at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland & was awarded The Euing Prize. She is an experienced performer, lecturer & adjudicator. Presently, Ivy is engaged in programmes for ukulele & has presented at The Scottish Music Education Conferences. She is founder & conductor of the Fife Ukulele Orchestra. Happiness with only 4 strings! As Music Speaker her Classical topics include Baroque & French Piano music. Popular Music titles include Beatles & How to conduct an Orchestra! Her presentations have enthused others - delivering material with fun.

Chris Seth-Ward

Chris began to take the ukulele seriously in his twenties, when he was in the RAF he entertained the "troops" during the off-duty hours in the pubs of Chichester. Over the past 20 years, Chris has taught ukulele in local state schools and privately to both children and adults. He has a unique method of teaching which enables beginners, in a group, to make instant progress together and have fun. "Teaching ukulele is fun!" says Chris.

Stephen has been entertaining cruise ship passengers since 2008. He is always keen to involve his audiences, and his PowerPoint presentations are a highlight of his talks, featuring cartoons, jokes, song lyrics, record covers, newspaper cuttings and animals, as well as photos and caricatures of composers and performers past and present. As a multi talented entertainer, Stephen and his wife Pam have also been teaching ukulele to beginners and improvers on cruises as well as running sea-shanty workshops.
