Lesley Chamberlain

Lesley has lived and gardened abroad in such diverse countries as Malaysia, Holland as well as America before finally returning to England in the 1980’s. Her one passion has always been in horticulture and after attending Agricultural College she gained her Royal Horticulture Certificate and progressed onto the City and Guilds Advanced Diploma in Garden Design & Landscaping. As well as lecturing to Horticultural Societies she continues to design both cottage and town gardens all over the south east of England. From a wide range of subjects from ‘Garden Design Made Simple’ to growing the fabulous plants and flowers of the Canary Islands at home, there is sure something to please everybody who loves gardens.

Brian Davis

David's long career in Horticulture started in 1962 as an Apprentice Gardener with Blackpool Parks Department, Royal Horticultural Society’s Garden at Wisley in Surrey, Horticulture lecturer at Reaseheath College in Cheshire, and then Head of Horticulture at Plumpton College in East Sussex. In 1995 he set up a comprehensive Garden Advisory Service offering a garden planning and horticultural consultancy. David talks on his love of plants, flowers and gardening.

Stephen Head

Stephen Head’s Cambridge PhD was on Red Sea coral reefs. He then taught zoology, marine science and ecology at Oxford University, and universities in Jamaica, and Oman, revelling in the natural history of different continents. Returning to the UK to lead conservation charities, Steve now runs the National Wildlife Gardening Forum, and lectures and writes for the RHS. He has appeared with Monty Don, Carol Klein, Bill Bailey and Sarah Raven on TV garden shows and his talks are full of passion and humour. Steve led a group that won Gold and “Best in Show” in 2010 for a Chelsea Show Garden.

Caroline Holmes

Caroline Holmes is a garden historian of ancient, modern and contemporary places, people and plants who sifts humour from humus worldwide. She is also an international lecturer in the warmth and comfort of halls and houses as well as leading groups through inspiring sites and gardens. Not forgetting author, broadcaster and consultant designer … in all I delve into the myriad ways people and plants have historically shaped landscapes and what we can learn from them.

Colin Jones

For 35 years Colin worked as a film editor and director wth B.B.C Television specialising in travel and science documentaries. Upon retirement he enrolled at Merrist Woood College in Surrey to study for the R.H.S Diploma in Horticulture. Dusted off his camera and set off to travel the world and photograph it's greatest gardens. He is Chairman of Sanderstead Horticultural Society, a Flower Show judge for Surrey. Colin is also a member of the team that has won three consecutive Gold Medals at the last three Chelsea Flower Shows for auriculars. His talks on Gardening & Horticulture are entertaining, informative and educating.

Joanne Kidd
History of Gardens and Garden Design

Joanne is a an accredited NADFAS lecturer and nationally and internationally acknowledged expert in the history and development of gardens and garden design, from Ancient Egypt to the modern day. Her body of lectures reflects the depth and diversity of her knowledge, encompassing not only specific gardens and garden designers, but also the defining styles across eras and continents. They also reflect her passion for the art, social and general history of these fascinating civilisations and their times.

Since that time he has had his own business creating and managing gardens which are both practical and sustainable with the emphasis to create gardens which encourage wildlife. 20 plus years ago Steve started giving talks to local groups, since that time his list of lectures has expanded and he is now travelling throughout Britain talking to a wide range of groups on Horticulture, Travel and his passion for Natural History. Janette is a well known horticultural lecturer and historian with a successful garden design business based in central Lincolnshire. After a career in marketing on the south coast of England, she returned to her roots, attending De Montfort University to study horticulture and garden design. Janette has had a love affair with plants all of her life. She is a talented, innovative designer, who not only provides inspiration and practical advice, but is now making a considerable name for herself as a professional speaker. She is a registered speaker of the Royal Horticultural Society and her list of talks ranges from seasonal flowers to garden design through the ages.

Sandy Primrose

Sandy Primrose is a biologist by training and has degrees from the University of Strathclyde and the University of California. Sandy’s passion is gardening and the half-acre garden of his house between London and Oxford is filled with unusual trees and shrubs. Over the years he has shown many groups round his garden and when he does so he tells them the stories behind the plants that he grows. These stories, and his experiences in industry, form the basis of his entertaining cruise lectures that cover topics in gardening, uses of plants, plant history and plant conservation.

Danny celebrates the history of Victorian and early 20th century Britain, an age of great dynamism, change and contrasts. He is a qualified history teacher and has an MA in Architectural History from Keele University. Born and bred in the East End of London, this has been the inspiration for much of his historical research and writing. Danny set up ‘Breathing Life into History’ in 2004 which now offers over 25 talks about “unlocking the past”, discovering, stimulating and creating a greater understanding of architecture, art, local history, literary heritage and social history.

Stefan White is a young-at-heart and healthy Englishman, married and recently retired from a successful entrepreneurial business career. Having been appointed Enrichment Speaker by 3 different cruise companies, in 2009 he attended a course organised by The P&R Agency on becoming a Destination and Port Lecturer which he passed with distinction. He has a passion for golf, wine, gardening and travel and, in addition to his Destination and Port talks, he has developed a wide portfolio of varied, amusing and informative Enrichment talks, which he is happy to offer on sea days.

David Winpenny
Architectural & Garden Historian and Writer

David graduated in English at the University of Birmingham and has worked as a teacher and as a campaign co-ordinator and press officer for both central and local government. He now runs his own business as a writer, public relations consultant and lecturer. He is an accredited NADFAS lecturer. His fascination with architectural and garden history has always encompassed the odder and quirkier aspects – his recent book ‘Up to a Point’ is about pyramids from the 17th to the 21st century in Britain and Ireland.
